About me

Helping you create a website that works better for your audience.

Hello!

I’m Morag, the designer behind Sea Star Design. With experience across studios, in-house teams, and freelance projects both here in New Zealand and overseas, I’ve worked with all sorts – small businesses, schools, government agencies, and established brands.

Now based in Ōhope, I work with clients to create websites that are clear, easy to use, and built to grow with you. I also offer graphic design that supports your online presence, whether that’s branding, social media content, or printed resources.

My approach:

  • No complicated jargon. Just clear, honest advice
  • Flexible design process shaped around your goals
  • Ongoing support when and how you need it
  • Websites designed with usability, accessibility, and clarity in mind

I believe website design should feel calm, considered, and easy to navigate for you and for your audience. That means creating websites that are clear, user-friendly, and designed to work well across different devices and access needs.

The story behind Sea Star Design’s name

When I was naming my business, I knew I wanted it to reflect my love for the beach. It’s where I go to clear my head, brainstorm ideas, and work through creative blocks. It’s where I feel calm, balanced, and re-energised…exactly how I want my design process to feel for clients.

While exploring beach-inspired names, I found out that my name Morag means “star of the sea.” I’ve always loved stars (they’ve even been my favourite shape since I was little) so the name Sea Star just clicked.

Sea stars move with the tides, adjust to their surroundings, and even rebuild themselves. That kind of flexibility reflects how I approach design…calm, responsive, and focused on helping you grow and evolve online.

This is why I knew Sea Star was the perfect name for my business. It’s a reflection of who I am, how I work, and the kind of experience I want to create for clients.
